RAILWAYS TAKES STEPS TO PREVENT MISUSE OF ‘SENIOR CITIZEN CONCESSION’ AND ‘SENIOR CITIZEN QUOTA’

As per the latest instructions from Railway Board, senior citizens who are found travelling on ‘Senior Citizen Concession’ by declaring wrong age will be charged the difference between the concessional fare paid and the non-concessional fare payable, plus penalty.
Furthermore, if they are found travelling not only on ‘Senior Citizen Concesion’ but also on a berth booked under ‘Senior Citizen Quota’ by declaring wrong age, they will be treated as travelling without ticket and penalised accordingly.
These instructions will come into effect on 01.02.2016.
