PROCEDURE FOR CANCELLATION AND REFUND OF TICKETS OF VALUE OF Rs 5000 AND ABOVE

Ministry of Railways had revised the procedure for cancellation of tickets and refund of value of Rs 10000/- and above for the PRS counter tickets booked from 9.11.2016 to 15.11.2016. In partial supersession to the above, it has now been decided that the following procedure will apply for cancellation of tickets (Partial/Full) and refund of value of Rs 5000/- and above for the PRS counter tickets booked from 16.11.2016 to 24.11.2016.

Cancellation of tickets booked from PRS counters between 9.11.2016 to 15.11.2016 and refund of fare of value Rs 10000/- and above, and cancellation of tickets(Partial/Full) booked from PRS counters between 16.11.2016 to 24.11.2016, refund  shall NOT be allowed in cash or through green pay order or by any means involving cash across the counter. The payment shall be o­nly through Cheque/ECS payment. Such tickets may be refunded through filing of TDR o­nly o­n surrendering of original ticket. TDR shall be filed within the prescribed time limit for cancellation of ticket across the counter as per Refund Rule e.g TDR shall be filed o­nly upto half an hour before the scheduled departure of the train for RAC/WL tickets and for confirmed tickets upto 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, for which ticket has been issued. TDR and refund of fare as per refund rule for such tickets shall be allowed for waitlisted tickets also o­nly through Cheque/ECS payment.

The above rule  is implemented with immediate effect.

In view of the extra ordinary circumstances, as a result of latest change of rules consequent upon demobilization of Rs. 500/- &
Rs. 1000/- denominations by the Union of India from midnight of 08-11-2016, the railway stations are not in a position to offer refund at the station itself. Stations are also not well equipped with money from RBI / Banks to be disbursed as per the new mandate. Therefore, the esteemed passengers are hereby advised with the following:

No cash refunds will be made available at the railway station. Instead, passengers claiming refund would be given a deposit slip(s) by the station. This deposit slip(s) may be used by the passenger for Claim Refund;

While claiming refund, passengers are to give details of their bank Account No., IFSC Code No to facilitate refund through RTGS as per Government of India policy. In case refund are more than Rs. 50,000/- passenger should submit the copy of their PAN Card.
