Train No.12243/12244 Chennai Central – Coimbatore – Chennai Central Shatabdi Express trains will be provided stoppage at Katpadi Junction Railway Station on experimental basis for six months from 28th February, 2018. With this, the service will have 5 stoppages, viz., Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode and Tiruppur between Chennai and Coimbatore. This stoppage will benefit people of Vellore district and large sections of business class travellers.
In November 2014, Linke Hoffman Busche (LHB) coaches were introduced in Chennai – Coimbatore Shatabdi Express service. As Republic day gift for passengers, with effect from 26.1.2018, Anubhuti coach was inducted in Chennai –Coimbatore Shatabdi Express service. Anubhuti coach has additional facilities such as reclining chairs, Infotainment TV, LED reading lights and attendant call buttons, etc. With the introduction of Anubhuti coach, the Shatabdi rake has 7 AC Chair Cars, 1 AC Executive Chair Car and 1 Anubhuti Chair Car coaches.
The experimental stoppage at Katpadi will be flagged off by Dr. M. Thambi Durai, Hon’ble Dy. Speaker, Lok Sabha at Katpadi Junction on 28th February, 2018. Shri K.C. Veeramani, Hon’ble Minister for Commercial Taxes, Tamil Nadu, Dr. Nilofer Khafeel, Hon’ble Minister for Labour, Tamil Nadu, Shri G. Hari, MP, Shri B. Senguttuvan, MP, Shri D. Raja, MP and Shri Durai Murugan are also likely to be present during the occasion.
The arrival/departure timings of Train No.12243 Chennai – Coimbatore Shatabdi Express at Katpadi will be 08.53 (Arr) and 08.54 (Dep).
Similarly, the arrival/departure timings of Train No.12244 Coimbatore – Chennai Central Shatabdi Express at Katpadi will be 20.14 (Arr) and 20.15 (Dep)
