The Metro line to Ballabhgarh got the Haryana government’s nod on Monday.The minister of state for parliamentary affairs, Sharda Rathore, said the project of extending the Badarpur Metro up to YMCA was already in process. However, on the demand of the public as well as local legislators, the cabinet has agreed to extend the line from YMCA to Ballabhgarh.
The line, she said, would not only benefit the residents of nearby sectors but also help a large number of people commuting daily to Ballabhgarh from other NCR areas.The detailed project report is expected to be completed by the month-end, said Rathore. Once the report is completed, it will be forwarded to the Union government for its approval.Sub-divisional magistrate I P Bishnoi said the extension of Metro will also be beneficial to the people coming from Agra, Mathura, Palwal etc, who can avail of the facility from Ballabhgarh.On the cost factor, Bishnoi said: “At the time of the finalization of the project till YMCA, the cost was about Rs138 crore per kilometre and it has now risen to Rs 200 crore, taking the total cost to approximately Rs 400 crore for a two kilometre stretch.”
