The metal cover of the platforms no.1 and 2 is being replaced, as it is broken at several places.
The repair work, started a week back, is expected to cost Rs.50 lakh.
It is likely to be completed in time for inspection by a top railway official in the second week of the New Year, according to B. Pitchaiah Naik, Nalgonda Station Manager.
The improvements being effected are a follow-up of measure suggested by officials, including A. Mathur, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntur.
After a recent inspection of the station, he had suggested relaying of the park opposite the station building, repair of the platforms, better water and lavatory facilities for the benefit of travelling public.
