Night services on Howrah-Mumbai rail route to resume partially

After remaining suspended for over a year-and-half years following the Jnaneshwari Express tragedy last year, train services between Tatanagar and Rourkela stations on Howrah-Mumbai route will partially resume from tomorrow night, a top railway official said today. "We will run passenger trains between the stations under Chkradharpur division of South Eastern Railway from tomorrow night," Divisional Railway Manager, Chakradharpur division, Achal Khare said today, adding that Howrah-Kurla Express will be the only long-distance train to run in the division. Meanwhile, welcoming the decision, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed the restoration of train services coming out of the initiatives taken by Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda. Party said it will continue to agitate till the night train services were fully restored in the section considered as a Maoist-hit area, party's East Singhbhum district committee secretary Rajesh Singh said. Train services in Khargapur-Tatanagar-Rourkela sections was suspended between 11 pm to 5 am after the derailment of Jnaneshwari Express on May 28 last year following sabotaging of tracks by Maoist insurgents.
