Passengers aboard New Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi Express were in for a gruelling wait on Monday with the train arriving at Chandigarh railway station late by almost three hours and 10 minutes. In all, six trains en-route to Chandigarh were delayed by many hours on a foggy Monday morning.Sources said it seemed that fog assistance mechanism attached onto most trains under the ambit of Ambala division of Northern Railways had failed hopelessly as no less than six trains arriving in Chandigarh from New Delhi and other railway stations on Monday were delayed by many hours.Speaking to TOI, Chandigarh railway station superintendent Praveen Kumar said, "The situation took a turn for the worse on Monday with heavy fog on both the main tracks, Ambala-New Delhi and Ambala-Saharanpur. This led to many trains being delayed and the worst affected was Howrah-Kalka Mail, which reached Chandigarh 14 hours and 30 minutes after its scheduled time."He said, "Other trains like New Delhi-Kalka Himalayan Queen, Lucknow-Chandigarh Express and Bandra-Kalka Express were delayed by 2.30 hours, 5.50 hours, respectively."
