Delhi metro installs automatic add value (smart card) machine at central secretariat metro station

he Delhi Metro today installed its first ‘Add Value Machine’ (For recharge of Smart Cards) at Central Secretariat Metro station, which is developed by an Indian company as part of Technology transfer from M/s Samsung SDS, Korea.

This is a Touch Screen based passenger operated Machine and no operator is required for carrying out the transaction. The machine can accept the Bank Note and simultaneously the Smart Card gets recharged (Top Up). After recharge, machine will generate receipt showing total balance in the Card after add value and physical ID number of the Card. This receipt will help passengers in case of any dispute during Add Value process. Currently, only Rs 100/- currency note will be accepted by this machine. However, this can be changed to other denominations as per user response in coming months. The machine will accept only one denomination and one currency note at a time for easy use of passengers.

This machine will help passengers to get their Smart Cards recharged without standing in a queue at Customer Care Centre. This machine is connected to the existing Fare Collection System of DMRC and can be monitored from the station or Operation Control Centre.

Presently, the machine is installed at Central Secretariat Metro station on trial basis and it is planned to add more of such machines in near future, based on the passenger response towards these machines.

The Add Value Machine was inaugurated today by the Managing Director, Mr. Mangu Singh in the presence of Directors and other senior officials of DMRC.
