Security personnel of Chakradharpur Division of S.E.Railway has done a commendable job by nabbing a group of miscreants and recovered the stolen gold ornaments of a passenger within two days.
On 12.09.2014, one passenger named Sourav Mukherjee and his wife boarded the general compartment of 12814 Dn Tata – Howrah Steel Express from Tatanagar station and kept their suitcase on the upper berth.Thereafter, three young persons came and sat on the upper berth by the side of the suitcase of the victim andtaking advantage of the heavy rush, took out the gold ornaments worth Rs.1.5 lakhs by opening the suitcase and fled away after locking the suitcase before the train started.Being suspicious, the victim passenger checked his suitcase and found the gold ornaments missing.Hence, the passenger and his wife detrained before the train started from Tatanagar and lodged an FIR at GRPS/Tatanagar. A case was registered vide No.57/14 dated 12.09.2014 u/s 379 IPC.
On getting information regarding the fact, on the same day a joint meeting was called at RPF Post/Tatanagar by Sri D.Sharma, Inspector, Protection Force/ RPF with Inspector Railway Police/Jamshedpur & OC/GRPS/Tatanagar where a strategy was made to nab the gang.CCTV footage on the date of occurrence was examined with the help of complainant and the criminals were identified.
Accordingly, sources were engaged and information was collected by the joint team under the leadership of Sri D.Sharma, Inspector , RPF and one main accused of this case was nabbed on 14.09.14 from Tatanagar Railway Station named Tun Tun Kumar Sah alias Ranjan Kumar of Khagaria(Bihar) with 06 Nos. of master keys for opening suitcases.On the basis of his leading statement two other associate culprits of this case, Nitish Kumar & Sakti Kumar both residents of Patna were nabbed with recovery of all the ornaments and were forwarded to Hon’ble Court of Railway Magistrate/Chakradharpur u/s 379 & 411 IPC.
