Eastern Railway registered remarkable growth in freight loading during the period from April to September i.e, first six months of this fiscal, although ER is best known as passenger-carrying railway. ER has been carrying 33 lakhs passengers daily by running of 1922 trains everyday.
Originating freight loading of ER during the period has reached to the tune of 31.403 Million Tonnes, registering an improvement of 7.62% over the corresponding period of last year.
Out of the total originating freight loading during the period, coal itself contributed to 20.973 Million Tonnes which is 8.52% higher than that of the corresponding period of last year.
