On information of unauthorized carrying of business of procuring and supplying E-Tickets, RPF team of Chennai Division, Southern Railway conducted frequent drives on travel agencies who are involving in procuring e-tickets on fake IDs. During the month of March RPF team of Madras division have arrested 09 persons including owners of travel agencies with recovery of e-tickets and cash valued Rs 77,263/- as below.
1) On 13.03.2016 Sri.Senthilraj, IPF/Katpadi along with officers and staff of CIB and KPD conducted search at Ramakrishna Travels No. 3 Corporation building Arcot road, Vellore and seized 06 Nos of IRCTC Reserved Tatkal e- Tickets Valued Rs. 17207/- along with cash Rs.2000/- and the computer accessories used for procuring of the tickets unlawfully. The owner of the travel agency namely Harishankar Ghanta was arrested for unlawfully procuring and supplying of the tickets. A case in KPD Cr.No. 511/2016 U/S 143 [1] [a) of RA has been registered and he was remanded to judicial custody.
2) On14.03.16 Sri P.Muthupandi SIPF/CIB/MAS along with officers and staff of Villivakkam and CIB arrested one outsider namely S.J.Tajudeen for the unlawfully procuring of 2 Nos Rly reserved tickets valued. Rs. 3775/- for carrying unauthorised business of procuring and supplying of Rly reserved tickets. Based on his confessional statement,a search was conducted at Taj travels, No 425/1, New No 50, kilpauk garden road, Chennai arrested the owner and seized 7 nos of IRCTC e- Tickets valued Rs. 13189/- along with one computer CPU & 10 nos unfilled reservation forms. Both the arrested persons were remanded to judicial custody.
3) On 15.03.16, Sri Sampath, SIPF/Tambaram along with officers staff of CIB/MAS and RPF/TBM conducted a search at R.H Associates, A-123, CLC work road, Chrompet, Chennai and arrested the owner L. Murugan, Aged 47yrs with the recovery of 4 Nos of IRCTC Rly ‘e’ tickets valued Rs.2358/-, one computer CPU, one mobile phone etc for unlawfully procuring and supplying of the e- tickets. The above arrested person was remanded to judicial custody.
4) On 15.03.16 Sri.Senthilraj,IPF/Kadpadi along with officers and staff of CIB/MAS and RPF/KPD conducted a search with the strength of search warrant at Coromondal Travels and Tours No 50, Baburao Street, Vellore and seized 06 Nos of IRCTC Tatkal e-tickets Vd.Rs. 13332/-, cash Rs. 2000/- along with computer accessories and mobile phones which were used for unlawfully procuring and supplying of the tickets and arrested the managerof said agency namely Amith Sarkar, aged 30 yrs, S/o Anand Sarkar. The arrested person was remanded to judicial custody.
5) On 15.3.2016 RPF special squad under the leadership of Sri S. Sampath, SIPF/Tambaram conducted a search at Shama Sardar Travels, No-6A, Gandhi Irvin Road, Hotel Imperiel Complex, Chennai Egmore and seized 03 Nos of IRCTC Tatkal ‘e’ tickets valued Rs. 3514/- along with computer accessories used for unlawfully procuring and supplying of the tickets and arrested the owner of the shop namely J.Irudayaraj, who was remanded to judicial custody.
6) On 16.3.2016 RPF special squad under the leadership of Sri S. Sampath, SIPF/Tambaram conducted a search at Raj Travels No. 1/15 Vaishnavi Nagar main road Chennai -109 and seized 05 Nos of IRCTC Tatkal ‘e’ tickets valued Rs. 3434.50/-, one computer Hard Disk, one Samsung mobile Phone, 05 Nos of filled reservation forms etc and arrested the owner of the shop namely Rajkiran, who was remanded to judicial custody.
7) On 19.03.16 Sri P.Muthupandi, SIPF/CIB/MAS with officers and staff of CIB and MAS conducted a search at Alisha Tours & travels, No 1129, PH.Road, Periamet, Chennai-03, seized 05 Nos of Tatkal e-tickets valued Rs 5917.40/-, Cash Rs 4700/- one computer CPU and one black colour Modem and arrested the owner namely I.Syed Akber for unlawfully procuring and supplying of the tickets who was remanded to judicial custody.
8) On 18.03.16 Sri.Johnson Jayakumar, ASIPF/MSB along with staff and officers of MSB and vilance team of Southern Railway conducted a search at Priyanka Travels No 184/240, Thambuchetty street, Chennai-1 and seized 09 Nos of IRCTC Tatkal ‘e’ tickets Total value of Rs 7837- along with one computer CPU and arrested one employee of the travel agency namely S. Nagaraj, 22 yrs for unlawfully procuring and supplying of the tickets. The owner of the travel agency namely K.R. Ganesh is cited as A2 and is yet to be arrested.The arrested person was remanded to judicial custody.
Special teams have been formed to deal with touting on e-tickets and incessant drives are conducted to eradicate the menace in the interest of public.
