The departure of some important short-distance trains from Mysore will be shifted from platform number 1 to 6 in a bid to decongest the main entrance of the city railway station.
This will also encourage the public to use the second entrance, which was inaugurated recently.
To start with, Mysore-Bangalore Tipu Express will depart from platform no. 6 with effect from Wednesday.
Shifting the departure of trains and evenly distributing them across different platforms will help ease the congestion at the main concourse , according to Anup Dayanand Sadhu, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager.
The authorities are planning to reserve the departure of only long-distance trains and their arrival for platform 1 and 2. At present, the departure and arrival of important trains from Mysore takes place from either platform number 1 or 2 resulting in the concentration of passengers at the main entrance. .
