Delhi Metro recorded ridership of over 27 lakhs Delhi Metro recorded ridership of over 27 lakhs on 04th August, 2014, the line wise breakup of the ridership is given below:

Passengers traveling from Metro network to Rapid Metro’s network and vice versa- 19,855 

Total ridership on 4th August, 2014 – 27, 05,807 lakhs

In order to handle and prepare for the increased ridership in the Delhi Metro, the following measures have been adopted by DMRC in recent months: -
1. Additional 136 coaches have been added since last year to covert four coach trains into six coach trains and similarly, six coach trains into eight coach trains on different lines as per details given below:

2. Average speed of trains increased from 33 KMPH to 36 KMPH.

3. Peak hour Headways between trains in Line 2 improved from 2 minutes 38 seconds to 2 minutes 18 seconds and in Line 3&4 improved from 2 minutes 45 seconds to 2 minutes 36 seconds.

4. DMRC made special efforts by running maximum number of 8 coach trains on line 2,3&4 and 6 coach trains on Line1.

5. 200 additional Automatic Fare Collection Gates have been installed at various stations. 6. The Delhi Metro’s network is among the fastest growing networks in the world, it has grown to 190 kms of operational network since it has started its operations in 2002 and carrying quarter a million of passengers every day.
